Module preview

4 of 19 slides, as they appear in the module.

  • Slide 1 Guided horizontal boring

  • Slide 9 The method in six steps

  • Slide 11 Step 1: another setup example

  • Slide 16 Why conventional pipe ramming lacks accuracy

Guided horizontal boring adds a step to steel casing boring: a pilot hole bored “dry” with dual rods and an LED target, which then guides the casing.

The module details the six steps of the method, the equipment and the questions to ask when pilot boring gets difficult.

Objectives

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • Explain the principle of the guided pilot hole and dual rods
  • Describe the six steps of the method
  • Anticipate the difficulties of pilot boring

Outline

  1. Principle: the pilot guide hole and dual rods
  2. Two ways to guide a casing bore
  3. The six steps of the method
  4. Lessons learned: boring the pilot hole
